Coming from a family of musicians, Anastasia Kobekina was born in Yekaterinburg in 1994. She began playing the cello at the age of 4 and gave her first concert with an orchestra at the age of 6.
Following a highly promising start to her career, Anastasia has performed with leading orchestras such as the Russian National Orchestra, the Moscow Virtuosi, the Mariinsky Orchestra, as well as the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, the Warsaw Symphony Orchestra and the Camerata Baltica. Anastasia has collaborated with numerous renowned conductors, including Vladimir Spivakov, Krzysztof Penderecki, Heinrich Schiff and Valery Gergiev.
She also performs as a soloist at prestigious venues such as the Berlin Konzerthaus, Lincoln Centre in New York, the Moscow Conservatory Concert Hall and the Bolshoi Theatre.
As talent knows no age, Anastasia has performed chamber music alongside some of the biggest names in classical music, such as Gidon Kremer, Yuri Bashmet, Fazıl Say, Denis Matsuev, Vladimir Spivakov and András Schiff.
Anastasia is winner of several competitions and thus won the Landgrave of Hesse Prize as well as the Boris Pergamenschikow Scholarship from the Kronberg Academy in Germany, a finalist in the Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna, and a semi-finalist in the Tchaikovsky Competition in 2015, and in the same year the Verbier Festival Academy Prize in Switzerland, followed by the First Prize in the TONALi Music Competition from Hamburg.
Anastasia Kobekina was discovered in France in 2014 by Pascal Escande, director of the Auvers-sur-Oise Festival, after he heard her perform Haydn’s concerto, conducted by Vladimir Spivakov, at a concert during the Annecy Classic Festival. He then decided to invite her the following year, along with her friend, the pianist Anna Fedorova, to produce her first DVD under the DiscAuverS label.
Anastasia has been appointed BBC New Generation Artist for the seasons 2018 to 2021.
In June 2019, she received the bronze medal at the 16th edition of the Tchaikovsky International Competition.
She plays a a Stradivarius cello from 1698 kindly on loan from the Stradivari Habisreutinger Foundation.
Anastasia Kobekina has written a exclusive contract with Sony Classical International. His first album, Venice, is published in February 2024. In October of the same year, she is crowned «Breakthrough of the Year» on Opus Klassik.
In September 2025, the following will be published: Suites for solo cello by Bach.
Eva Zavaro’s recording of the Sonata for violin and piano by Oskar C. Posa, published in September 2025, was a huge international critical success: Choc de Classica, 4T of Télérama, Record of the Year for Alex Ross (The New Yorker), Selection Le Monde, Golden Key of the Year ResMusica, Album of the Month Scherzo, Limelight Editor’s Choice.
